The talent of one of the greatest representatives of Italy in the world could not find more breathtaking spot: the voice of Andrea Bocelli has chosen, in fact the “Theatre of Silence” for an event which has become, over the years, an appointment known throughout the world.
Wanted from the Tuscan tenor and opened in 2006, the Teatro del Silenzio in Lajatico is an amphitheater built in perfect harmony with the hills of Pisa. The circular stage is designed, by the will of Andrea Bocelli, to host one show a year.
When the theater is not active, the audience is dismantled and the stage is transformed into a small artificial lake, which gives the name to this place of Tuscan culture.
Also this year (as from 11 years now) the theater has hosted the wonderful voice of Andrea Bocelli in the show “Le Cirque”. In this latest edition, staged July 30, 2016, the tenor has performed some of the most famous opera arias. The sets were inspired by the world of the circus: a riot of color and the magic power of music by an extraordinary choir and a symphony orchestra. Like every year, this edition also registered a great success all over the world, attracted by the absolute peculiarity of this virtually unique event of its kind.
Many innovations have made over the years this event , has become, by now, a real stronghold of the summer concert season in Tuscany. The adventure began in 2006 with the show “Dedicated to the great absent” with a capacity of about 5,000 spectators. Already the following year, the capacity was increased to 7,000 places with the “Live show in Tuscany”. Incredible success for the 2008 edition where Bocelli had staged a great tribute to the world of cinema with special guests such as Nicola Piovani and Roberto Bolle.
Placido Domingo was the special guest for the 2009 edition dedicated to “Soul’s Colors”. Still a great tribute to guests in 2011 with the presence of Renato Zero, Uto Ughi and Eleonora Abbagnato for the show Bravo Italy & China. All dedicated to the feminine world the spectacle of the 2012 “Woman: nice mystery without end!” with a quotation from “Miss Felicity” by Guido Gozzano where Bocelli was accompanied by some of the most important soprano worldwide.
In 2013, was the time of the theatrical talent of Naturaliter, a group who created a truly monumental set design for the play “Presences”. The 2014 protagonist was, however, the Cavalleria Rusticana by Mascagni in the show “Pathos”, with the splendid staging by Maurizio Giani. Sold out even for the edition of 2015 in which Bocelli brought on stage “Turandot” by Puccini: exceptional parterre with international stars like Oscar Award Natalie Portman
Now all that remains is to wait, with great curiosity, some information on the issue next year which will take place, as twelfth year, in the summer of 2017.
